Chicago Lawn Shooting Leaves Man Dead, Police Say

CHICAGO LAWN — A 31-year-old man was shot to death while walking in Chicago Lawn on Tuesday evening, police said.

Around 7:50 p.m., the man was walking with a friend in the 6300 block of South Troy Street when they heard gunshots and the man collapsed, according to Officer Ana Pacheco, a Chicago Police spokeswoman.

The man was brought to Advocate Christ Medical Center with a gunshot wound in the back of his head, Pacheco said. He was later pronounced dead.

The man was identified as Gerardo Rodriguez, of the 6200 block of South Francisco, in Cook County Medical Examiner's records. Rodriguez was pronounced dead at 8:41 p.m. of a gunshot wound in his neck.

No one is in custody, Pacheco said.
