LAKEVIEW — It's been about a week since Snap Kitchen opened in Lakeview, and the beef chimichurri has been flying off the shelves.

The Texas-based chain opened three Chicago locations this month, with the Loop store at Adams and Franklin launching Wednesday. The Lakeview store, 621 W. Diversey Ave., and the Lincoln Park location, 1534 N. Halsted St., opened last week.

"We've had mostly neighborhood customers coming in. They have been seeing our sign up for a long time and patiently waiting for us to open our doors, so they're excited to finally get in and see what the concept is," said Danielle Bega, general manager of the Lakeview location.

Other popular items include the grass-fed lamb lasagna and turkey chili, Bega said.

With its first three stores outside of Texas now open, Snap Kitchen is also eyeing a spot in Wicker Park and said it intends to open additional Chicago locations this year.

Snap Kitchen offers health-mindful meals for breakfast, lunch and dinner, ranging from bison quinoa hash to chicken sausage breakfast tacos. Soups, salads and desserts are also offered, like spicy coconut chicken soup and goat cheese cheesecake.

"I think Chicago is really ready for something that makes healthy eating taste good, and they're ready for that to be convenient for them," Bega said. "We have lots of different types of cuisine on the shelves. It's not just typical chicken and brown rice, but really fun and exciting items."

For something smaller, Snap has juices, smoothies and snacks. Customers can get quick bites  like roasted almonds or almond-crusted chicken strips.

Entree prices will range from $8-14, while snack prices typically fall in the $1-5 range. While delivery won't be available right away, it could be possible in the future, a spokeswoman said.

As part of the Chicago opening, Snap Kitchen is offering 10,000 free meals to new customers.
