LAKEVIEW — After being named one of the top new food brands in 2014, Snap Kitchen is setting its sights on Chicago with three locations opening this spring.

The Austin, Texas-based fresh food chain is hoping Chicagoans will embrace their grab-and-go meals that center on healthy, organic ingredients and cater to vegetarian, vegan, Paleo and other diets.

"We are so fortunate to already be a part of major cities like Austin, Dallas and Houston, and are excited to finally bring Snap to Chicago after friends and extended family members have been pleading for us to do this for years," said co-founder and CEO Martin Berson.

Three Snap Kitchen locations will open in Chicago in late spring: 621 W. Diversey Pky. in Lakeview; 1534 N. Halsted St. in Lincoln Park; and 223 W. Adams St. in the Loop. Snap Kitchen said additional Chicago area locations will open this year.

To promote the grand openings, Snap Kitchen is offering a free entree to the first 10,000 people to complete a short informational form.

Snap Kitchen offers health-mindful meals for breakfast, lunch and dinner, ranging from bison quinoa hash to chicken sausage breakfast tacos. Soups, salads and desserts are also offered, like spicy coconut chicken soup and goat cheese cheesecake.

Snap Kitchen, which will open Lakeview, Lincoln Park and Loop locations this spring, offers freshly made grab-and-go meals in addition to a range of juices and snacks.

For something smaller, Snap has juices, smoothies and snacks. Customers can get something simple like roasted almonds or almond-crusted chicken strips.

Entree prices will range from $8-14, while snack prices typically fall in the $1-5 range. While delivery won't be available right away, it could be possible in the future, a spokeswoman said.

Snap Kitchen's online menu prominently displays each item's calories, ingredients and other nutrition information. Each item also lists whether it is gluten-free, carbohydrate-conscious, sodium-conscious, Paleo, plant-powered, vegan, vegetarian or non-dairy.

"Whether you are trying to lose weight, train for a 10K or just want food that tastes great and is super convenient, Snap Kitchen is designed with everyone in mind," Berson said.

Snap Kitchen launched in 2010 and has grown to 21 locations in Texas. Last year, Nation's Restaurant News named it one of the top "Breakout Brands," along with Cincinnati's Tom + Chee and Burger Lounge in San Diego.
