CHICAGO — One person is dead and at least five others wounded in shootings since Thursday, police said.

A 16-year-old boy was shot and killed in South Shore.

Two men were shot in separate shootings in the South Side Thursday afternoon.

A Department of Water employee was shot in Little Village shortly before noon.

In the most recent shooting, a 26-year-old man was wounded in Austin.

Around 10:55 p.m., the man was standing with other people in the 5700 block of West Ohio Street when someone in a passing light-colored vehicle fired shots, striking the 26-year-old in his abdomen, said Officer Ron Gaines, a Chicago Police spokesman.

A friend drove him to West Suburban Medical Center and he was later transferred to Stroger Hospital where his condition had stabilized, Gaines said.

At 6:20 p.m. in Austin, a 20-year-old man was involved in an argument in the 1200 block of North Parkside Avenue when another man pulled out a gun and fired shots, Gaines said.

The man was shot in his side and stomach and drove himself to West Suburban Medical Center where he was listed in serious condition, Gaines said.
