
SOUTH SHORE — A 16-year-old boy was shot and killed on the 1400 block of East 73rd Street Thursday night, police said.
The boy was found in the South Shore neighborhood around 6 p.m. with gunshot wounds in his chest and neck, according to Office Bari Lemmon, a Chicago Police spokeswoman.
He was pronounced dead on the scene, Lemmon said.
The Cook County Medical Examiner's office identified the boy as Amari Sutton, 16, of the 1400 block of East 73rd Street.
The Chicago Tribune reported that the boy was outside his grandmother's house waiting for a ride.
According to police, the boy was a documented gang member.
