South Shore Shooting Leaves Man, 23, Dead

CHICAGO — A man was fatally shot in South Shore Thursday evening.

Around 9:20 p.m., police responded to a call of a shooting and found a man, 23, lying on the ground in the 7600 block of South Coles Avenue, according to Officer Ronald Gaines, a police spokesman. 

The man, who was later identified as Ladarryl Walters, suffered from multiple gun shot wounds in his head and chest, authorities said.

Walters, of the 3400 block of West 110th Place, was pronounced dead at 10:42 p.m. after being transported to Northwestern Memorial Hospital, according to the Cook County Medical Examiner's office. 

No one is in custody for the shooting, and detectives are investigating.
