AUSTIN — A Hillside man died Wednesday after being shot multiple times earlier in the week in the city's Austin neighborhood.

Derrick Burrows, 30, was pronounced dead Wednesday morning at Stroger Hospital, according to the Cook County Medical Examiner's office.

Burrows, of the 300 block of North Laverne Avenue in Hillside, was in the 5200 block of West Quincy Street on June 9th when he was shot in his head, chest and arms, according to Officer John Mirabelli, a police spokesman.

Police did not have details of the shooting but said Burrows had documented gang ties.

After the shooting, Burrows was taken to West Suburban Hospital and was later transferred to Stroger Hospital where he died, Mirabelli said.

The fatal shooting happened near a gas station where another suburban man was shot and killed earlier this year.
