UPTOWN AND ANDERSONVILLE — The 'hoods are poppin' with fun activities to get you out of the house and exploring your neighborhood this weekend.

Here are 10 things to check out around Uptown and Andersonville, from live performances to a block party:

Ben Folds at The Riv: Friday night, Dotan will open for Ben Folds for an 18-and-older show at The Riviera Theatre. Folds is a singer-songwriter and producer from North Carolina, who in the '90s served as the frontman of Ben Folds Five. $35. 8 p.m. 4746 N. Racine. Ave.

Stand Up Comics and Chair Dancing: Uptown Underground will host Got Chair, a risque, "chair-dancing journey through movies, pop culture and everyday life" and Strip Joker, which features a roster of stand-up comics ready to bare it all. Tickets to Got Chair, which begins at 8 p.m. are $25 and tickets to Strip Joker are $15. Friday. 4707 N. Broadway.

"Threadbare: Clothes, Sex and Trafficking" Launch Party: Women and Children First Bookstore will host a launch party for Anne Elizabeth Moore's book "Threadbare: Clothes, Sex and Trafficking" Friday. The illustrated comic series draws the parallel between international garment trading, sex slavery and human trafficking. Moore, who teaches at the School of the Art Institute in Chicago, has also written "Cambodian Grrrl: Self-Publishing in Phnom Penh" and "Unmarketable." Friday. 7:30 p.m. 5233 N. Clark St.

Brightview Mosaic Block Party: On Saturday, Beacon Street will host a block party featuring a live DJ, miniature golf, face painting, relay races, a petting zoo and a dunk tank. Snow cones and bags of popcorn will be given out and food vendors will be on site. Admission is $1 for adults and 50 cents for children. From Wilson Avenue to Brightview Mosaic Healthcare Center, 4538 N. Beacon St. From 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday.

Workout Like A Soldier: Saturday Morning, Primary Crossfit and Yoga will host a free workout designed for Marines, soldiers and sailors. Dollar Days at Shake, Rattle and Read: It's the last days of Shake, Rattle and Read, and owner Ric Addy is pulling out all the stops. Until the shop closes on May 21, everything in the store is $1, except vinyl, which is 50 percent off. All weekend. 4812 N. Broadway.
