1 Dead, 5 Wounded in Shootings Since Thursday, Police Say

CHICAGO — A man was killed and five others were wounded — including a 10-year-old boy and a 15-year-old boy — in shootings since Thursday morning, according to police.

An 8-year-old boy accidentally shot his 10-year-old brother early Thursday in Washington Heights, police said.

A 15-year-old boy was critically wounded in a gang-related drive-by shooting in Belmont Cragin Thursday night, police said.

A 33-year-old man was shot and killed in West Garfield Park Thursday morning, according to police.

• In other shootings, a 46-year-old man was wounded in a Hermosa shooting Thursday night, said Officer Jose Estrada, a Chicago Police spokesman. The man was standing on the sidewalk in the 4400 block of West Diversey Avenue around 6:56 p.m. when a man approached and opened fire, Estrada said.

The man was struck in his left leg and buttocks and was taken to Advocate Illinois Masonic Hospital in "stable" condition, Estrada said.

• A 17-year-old boy was shot in South Shore Thursday night, Estrada said. He was on a bicycle in the 7100 block of South Ridgeland Avenue around 6:20 p.m. when someone opened fire, Estrada said.

The boy was struck in his right hand and was taken to Jackson Park Hospital in good condition, Estrada said. He is a documented gang member, police said.

• A 35-year-old man was wounded in a West Pullman shooting Thursday night, Estrada said. The man was in the 400 block of West 118th Street around 6:22 p.m. when he was shot by two men, Estrada said.

He was struck in his right ankle and was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center in "stable" condition, Estrada said.

No arrests have been made in any of the shootings, as the investigations are ongoing, Estrada said.
