2 Men Dead, 9 Others Wounded in Shootings Since Thursday, Police Say

CHICAGO — Two people have been killed and nine wounded in shootings since Friday, police said.

The two people shot dead were both men in their 50s in Humboldt Park. A 56-year-old man was found shot dead around 2:50 a.m., police said. About 7 hours earlier, around 8 p.m. a 51-year-old man was shot dead and 2 others injured in a shooting in the same neighborhood, according to police.

In non-fatal shootings:

• At 4:55 a.m. Saturday, a 27-year-old man was shot in Little Village, Officer Janel Sedevic, Chicago Police spokeswoman said.

• At 10:50 p.m. Friday, a 23-year-old man was shot while trying to break up a fight in Garfield Park. The man was in the 3200 block of West Madison Street, trying to end a fight between two men, when another man walked up and fired shots, Sedevic said.

The victim was hit in his right arm and taken to Mount Sinai Hospital in serious condition.

• At 9 p.m., a 17-year-old was wounded in a shooting in West Pullman, Sedevic said. The teen was a passenger in a car in the 11500 block of South Perry Avenue when he heard shots and felt pain. He was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center with a wound in the right side of his back. He was in "stable" condition, Sedevic said. Police could not say the extent of his injuries.

• At 5:30 p.m., a 32-year-old man was injured in a drive-by in Garfield Park. The man was in the 4500 block of West Maypole Avenue when someone in a car fired at him, hitting him in his leg. He was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital in serious condition.

• At 12:50 p.m., three teens were wounded in a shooting outside Camelot Excel Southwest High School, 7014 S. Washtenaw Ave. in Marquette Park. The shooting, which shook families in the area, left a 17-year-old boy in critical condition while two other teens suffered graze wounds.

No one is in custody for these shootings.
