CHICAGO — Three people were wounded in a shooting in Rogers Park on Thursday night, police said, bringing to nine the number of people shot since Oct. 13 in the neighborhood.

At 10:15 p.m., three people were stopped in their car in the 1500 block of West Morse Avenue when someone fired at their car multiple times, said Officer Ana Pacheco, a Chicago Police spokeswoman. Two women, ages 22 and 30, and a 26-year-old man were shot in their backs.

The victims tried to drive to St. Francis Hospital, but while turning near the hospital the driver jumped a curb and struck a 59-year-old woman, police said. They continued driving to the hospital's emergency entrance, where they told people about the woman, and paramedics were sent out to pick up the woman.

The woman, who works at the hospital, has a compound leg fracture and is in "stable" condition, said Cmdr. Joe Dugan, a Evanston Police spokesman.

All of the shooting victims were in serious condition at St. Francis Hospital, Pacheco said.

Last week, Evanston and Chicago police held a joint roll call after three men were shot in the 2000 block of Howard Street Oct. 13, including a CeaseFire worker who was also shot over Labor Day weekend.

The night of the roll call, a 25-year-old man was shot three times and on Oct. 23, another man was shot while at a Shell gas station on Sheridan Road.

On Oct. 27, a man was shot in his hand between Rogers Park and West Ridge.
