ROGERS PARK — A 20-year-old man was shot in his hand early Tuesday at the border of Rogers Park and West Ridge, according to police.

Around 2:45 a.m., the man was walking in the 6700 block of N. Ridge Blvd. when a vehicle rolled up and someone inside fired shots, hitting the victim in his hand, said Officer Janel Sedevic, a News Affairs spokeswoman.

He was taken to St. Francis Hospital in Evanston in good condition.

Police say no arrests have been made yet and the victim is a documented gang member.

The man was the sixth person to be hit by gunfire in Rogers Park since Oct. 13.

On Oct. 13, three men were shot near Howard Street and Ridge Boulevard, along the border of Evanston and Rogers Park.

About a week later on Oct. 21, police forces from Evanston and Chicago united for a public roll call as an effort to help deter violence in the area. But only three hours later a 25-year-old man was shot blocks away.

Two days later on Friday Oct. 23, a 22-year-old man was left in serious condition after being shot at a Shell gas station on Sheridan Road and Touhy. A passenger in the victim's car was not shot, but did go to the hospital after sustaining injuries from glass shards where the window of their car was shot in.
