1 Killed, 14 Wounded in Shootings Since Saturday Morning: Police

CHICAGO — A man is dead and 14 other people are wounded following shootings that occurred around the city between Saturday morning and Sunday morning, police said.

The man was shot to death by an acquaintance in Bronzeville, police said. The shooter was later arrested and charged with murder.

Two men were shot and critically wounded in Pilsen early Sunday morning, according to Officer Janel Sedevic, a Chicago Police spokeswoman.

Two men were shot in the parking lot of an Uptown McDonald's a few hours later, Sedevic said.

• Most recently, around 5:50 a.m. Sunday, a 22-year-old woman was standing by a car in the 3900 block of West Polk Street in North Lawndale when she heard gunshots and felt pain, Sedevic said.

The woman drove herself to Mount Sinai Hospital with a gunshot wound in her back, Sedevic said. She was listed in guarded condition there.

• At about 4:20 a.m., a 28-year-old man was shot in his abdomen in the 9600 block of South Morgan Street in Washington Heights, Sedevic said.

The man was brought to Advocate Christ Medical Center, where he was in critical condition, Sedevic said.

Police could not immediately provide any other information on the shooting.

• Around the same time, Sedevic said, a 19-year-old man was standing in the 5800 block of South Laflin Street in Englewood when a black car drove by and someone shot out the window.

The man was taken to Holy Cross Hospital, where he was listed in good condition with a gunshot wound in his shoulder, Sedevic said.

Police said the man is a documented gang member.

• About 4 a.m., a 29-year-old man was standing in the 11400 block of South Yale Avenue in Roseland when a gray SUV pulled up from behind him and someone inside fired shots, Sedevic said.

The man was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center, Sedevic said, where his condition stabilized after he was treated for a gunshot wound in his back. 

• Around 1:15 a.m., an 18-year-old man was standing in the 3800 block of West Maypole Avenue in West Garfield Park when he heard gunshots and felt pain, Sedevic said.

The man was taken to Stroger Hospital, where he was listed in good condition after being shot in his hip, lower back and foot, Sedevic said.

• At 9:20 p.m. Saturday, a 15-year-old boy was walking in the 700 block of West 98th Street in Washington Heights when someone walked up and shot at him, Sedevic said.

The boy brought himself to Little Company of Mary Hospital after being shot in his hand and arm, Sedevic said. He was later transferred to Advocate Christ Medical Center, where he was in good condition.

• Around 7:05 p.m., a 17-year-old was standing in the 2700 block of East 79th Street in South Chicago when someone drove by in a red SUV and shot at him before fleeing northbound, according to Officer Amina Greer, a Chicago Police spokeswoman.

The teen was taken to Northwestern Memorial Hospital, where he was listed in critical condition with a gunshot wound in his chest, Greer said.

• About 20 minutes earlier, Greer said, a 25-year-old man was standing in the 3700 block of South Wells Avenue in Armour Square when someone walked up and shot at him.

The man was brought to Stroger Hospital, where he was listed in fair condition after being shot in both legs and his scrotum, Greer said.

Police said the man is a documented gang member.

• Around 1:50 p.m. Saturday afternoon, a 37-year-old man was standing in the 1700 block of West 85th Street in Auburn Gresham when a white Ford Fusion drove by and someone inside shot at him, Greer said.

The man was brought to Advocate Christ Medical Center, where he was listed in fair condition with a gunshot wound in his back, Greer said.

• At about 12:30 p.m., a 35-year-old man walked into Trinity Hospital with a gunshot wound in his left knee, Greer said. He was later listed in good condition.

The man had been walking in the 1300 block of East 75th Street in Auburn Gresham when a man walked up and shot at him, Greer said.

Police said the man is a documented gang member.
