3 Dead, 17 Hurt in Shootings Since Friday Morning, Police Say

CHICAGO — Gun violence across Chicago claimed three lives and injured 17 others since Friday morning, according to police.

Two men were killed in North Lawndale Friday night, including a 22-year-old shot in the chest and a 35-year-old man shot in the stomach, in what police called gang-related shootings.

A 31-year-old man was killed, a 33-year-old wounded and a 28-year-old wounded in an Austin shooting late Friday, police said.

• The most recent non-fatal shooting was at 4:10 a.m. Saturday, when a 15-year-old boy was shot in Washington Park, according to Officer Jose Estrada, Chicago Police spokesman. The boy was outside in the 100 block of East 59th Street when a dark car approached and opened fire, striking the boy in his neck, Estrada said. He was taken to Comer Children's Hospital in critical condition, Estrada said.

• A 19-year-old woman was shot in her left side in the 6600 block of South Halsted Street in Englewood at 1:55 a.m. Saturday, Estrada said. She was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center in stable condition, he said.

Three men were injured in a Rogers Park shooting around 1:30 a.m. Saturday, Estrada said.

• A 20-year-old man was shot while walking outside around 11:50 p.m. Friday on the 7400 block of South Eggleston Avenue in Englewood, Estrada said. He was struck in his upper thigh and taken to Christ Hospital in stable condition. Police said the victim was a documented gang member.

• Three men were shot around 9:45 p.m. Friday while sitting in a vehicle parked in an alley in the 6000 block of South Richmond Street in Chicago Lawn, Estrada said. A 21-year-old man was shot in his left arm, a 17-year-old boy was shot in his left leg and a 19-year-old man suffered a graze wound to his back, Estrada said. The three victims drove themselves to Holy Cross Hospital and are listed in good condition, he said.

• A 20-year-old man was shot twice in his back around 8:40 p.m. Friday, Estrada said. He was on the sidewalk in the 1400 block of North Linder Avenue in Austin when shots rang out, Estrada said. He was taken to Loyola University Medical Center in serious condition, Estrada said.

• A 26-year-old man was shot multiple times in his chest around 7 p.m. Friday in Englewood, Estrada said. The man was found in the street in the 5700 block of South Lowe Avenue and was taken to Stroger Hospital in serious condition, Estrada said. The shooting may have been gang related, police said.

• At the same time about half a mile away, a 59-year-old man was shot in his back in the 5700 block of South May Street in Englewood, Estrada said. He was taken to Stroger Hospital in stable condition, he said. The shooting may have been gang related, police said.

• A 15-year-old boy was shot in Roseland around 4 p.m. Friday, Estrada said. He was in the 10500 block of South Wentworth Avenue when a someone on a bike opened fire, Estrada said. He was shot in the right shoulder and taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center in stable condition, he said.

• A 26-year-old man and a 17-year-old boy were shot in the 2800 block of West Fillmore Street at 11 a.m. Friday in North Lawndale, Estrada said. The man was shot in the head and taken to Mount Sinai Hospital in critical condition, while the boy was shot in the arm and taken to Mount Sinai in good condition, Estrada said.
