CHICAGO — A 22-year-old man was shot dead late Friday in North Lawndale, police said.

The man was on the sidewalk in the 1800 block of South Drake Avenue at 11:40 p.m. Friday when someone in a gold SUV opened fire, striking the man in the abdomen, according to Officer Jose Estrada, Chicago Police spokesman.

Jamaal Barney, of the 1600 block of South Central Park Avenue, was pronounced dead at the scene at 12:19 a.m., according to Cook County Medical Examiner's office records.

No arrests have been made. The man is a documented gang member, police said.
