CHICAGO — A 35-year-old man was fatally shot Friday in North Lawndale, according to police.

The man was in the passenger seat of a car parked in the 1100 block of South Richmond Street around 8:20 p.m. Friday when another man on foot approached and opened fire, according to Officer Jose Estrada, Chicago Police spokesman.

He was hit in the stomach, Estrada said. A friend drove the man to Mount Sinai Hospital in critical condition, and he was later pronounced dead.

No arrests have been made. The man is a documented gang member, police said.
