Seven Wounded in Shootings Since Monday Morning

CHICAGO — Shootings across the city left seven people wounded Monday, police said.

About 2 p.m., two men were shot while in the 4000 block of West Maypole Avenue in Garfield Park, said Officer Jose Estrada, a Chicago Police spokesman.

A 17-year-old was shot in his left knee and an 18-year-old was shot in his buttocks. Both were taken to Mount Sinai Hospital, where their conditions stabilized, Estrada said.

The most recent shooting occurred around midnight in the 0-100 block of East 102nd Place in Roseland. A 27-year-old man was shot in his right thigh after shots were fired from a passing red sedan, Estrada said.

The man was taken to Christ Hospital, where his condition stabilized, Estrada said.

An 18-year-old man was shot multiple times in Lawndale around 8:45 p.m. The man was walking in the 1500 block of South St. Louis Avenue when someone opened fire from a passing dark-colored sedan, Estrada said.

The man was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital in critical condition, Estrada said.

A 23-year-old man was shot in his right hand while walking in the 5100 block of West Washington Boulevard in Austin. He was taken to West Suburban Hospital, where his condition was stabilized, Estrada said.

Around 7:39 p.m., a 23-year-old man was shot in Englewood.

Earlier Monday afternoon, a 25-year-old man was shot on the Near West Side.
