Near West Side Shooting Hospitalizes Man Monday Afternoon

CHICAGO — A 25-year-old man was shot on the Near West Side Monday afternoon, police said.

Around 3:37 p.m., the man was walking southbound in the 1100 block of South Western Avenue when shots were fired from someone in an unknown car, said Officer Jose Estrada, a Chicago Police spokesman.

The man drove himself to West Suburban Hospital in Oak Park after being shot in his right forearm and left wrist. He was transferred to Stroger Hospital, where his condition was stabilized, Estrada said.

No one is in custody for the shooting.
