CHICAGO — Four people have been killed and 11 others wounded in citywide shootings since the long Fourth of July weekend kicked off Thursday afternoon around 4:45 p.m., according to police.

Last year, 13 people were killed and 70 wounded in shootings over the holiday weekend, prompting Police Supt. Garry McCarthy to declare "all hands on deck" to attempt to avert the same high levels of violence this year. McCarthy promised police would have an increased presence Friday and Saturday nights, and that they would "aggressively" enforce smaller violations such as public drinking.

The most recent homicide happened about 4:45 p.m. Friday when two teens were shot, one fatally, near the Bronzeville park named after slain 15-year-old Hadiya Pendleton, police said.

About 1:20 a.m. Friday, a 46-year-old man was shot to death and another woman injured when someone inside a van opened fire in Washington Heights, police said.

Just after midnight Friday, 26-year-old Jose Hernandez was gunned down in the Back of the Yards on the same block where another man was wounded 9 hours earlier, according to police.

And at 6:25 p.m. Thursday, a 20-year-old man was killed riding his bicycle in Little Village, police said.

In the most recent non-fatal shooting, three men were wounded in a shooting while stopped in traffic Saturday morning at 6 a.m., police said.

In other non-fatal shootings:

• A 41-year-old man was shot in his back and right arm in North Lawndale about 3:20 a.m. Saturday, police sources said. The victim was sitting in a parked car in the 4200 block of West Cermak Road when someone fired shots in his direction, police said. He was taken to Loyola University Medical Center, where his condition had stabilized.

• About 11:45 p.m. Friday, a 41-year-old man was shot in his left thigh and left shoulder during a drive-by shooting in Bronzeville, police said. The victim was walking along the 700 block of East 44th Street when someone inside a white car opened fire. He was eventually taken to Stroger Hospital, where his condition had stabilized.

• An 18-year-old man was shot in his right leg in the 200 block of West 104th Place on the Far South Side at 11:39 p.m. Friday, according to police.

Police said the man wasn't cooperative and few details are available — adding that victim is believed to be a documented gang member.

• In Little Village, a 33-year-old man was shot in his right leg, right forearm and abdomen during a drive-by in the 3500 block of West 24th Street about 7:43 p.m., police said. The man had been standing on the sidewalk when a white four-door Honda pulled up and someone inside opened fire.

Police said the victim is a documented gang member, and the incident appears to be gang-related.

No one was in custody for any of the shootings.

Earlier, a 25-year-old man was shot on the Near West Side about 12:25 a.m. Friday. A 19-year-old man was shot in West Pullman about 4:45 p.m. Thursday.
