2 Killed, 14 Wounded in Shootings Since Saturday Afternoon: Police

CHICAGO — Two men were killed and nine other people were wounded from gun violence since Saturday afternoon, police said.

An 18-year-old man was shot dead in West Humboldt Park Saturday night, according to Chicago Police spokesman Officer Jose Estrada.

Five people were shot over the course of 10 hours in Logan Square Saturday and Sunday, Estrada said.

A 21-year-old man was fatally shot and his 46-year-old mother was injured in a South Chicago shooting Saturday afternoon.

• Most recently, around 4:21 a.m. Sunday morning, a 32-year-old man was standing in his backyard on the 4500 Block of West Washington Street in West Garfield Park when a man approached and shot him in his back and his foot, Estrada said.

Police and fire officials took the man to Mount Sinai Hospital, where he's now in good condition, Estrada said. No one is in custody for the shooting.

• A 44-year-old woman was sitting on her porch on the 3800 block of South Honore Street in McKinley Park Sunday morning when a car drove by around 2:30 a.m. and a passenger fired shots in her direction, Estrada said.

The woman was shot twice, in her abdomen and her arm, and taken to Mount Sinai Hospital, where she's listed in serious condition, Estrada said. So far, no one is in custody for the shooting.

• At around 1:35 a.m. Sunday, a 35-year-old man was riding in a car heading east on 77th Street in Auburn Gresham when a man on the corner of Racine Avenue shot into the car and hit him twice in his abdomen, Estrada said.

A relative took the man to St. Bernard Hospital, where officials transferred him to Stroger Hospital in critical condition, Estrada said.

According to police, the victim is a documented gang member. 

• Around 10:45 p.m. Saturday night a 24-year-old man was walking on the 2700 block of East 76th Street in South Shore when two men walked up and shot him in the face, Estrada said.

The man was taken to Northwestern Memorial Hospital, Estrada said, where he's listed in good condition. Police said the victim is a documented gang member.

• At about 9:48 p.m. Saturday evening a 35-year-old woman was walking on the 1200 block of North Maplewood Avenue in Humboldt Park when a car drove by and its passengers opened fire in her direction, Estrada said.

Estrada said the woman refused medical treatment after a bullet grazed her ankle. No one is in custody for the shooting, Estrada said.

• At 6:30 p.m. two groups of men got into a fight on the 2600 block of West Division Street, Estrada said, where crowds were still gathered from the Puerto Rican Day Parade.

A man from one of the groups pulled out a gun and opened fire on the other group, Estrada said, hitting a 17-year-old boy in his left foot.

The boy walked to Norwegian Hospital, where Estrada said he is in good condition.

Police said they believe the incident to be gang-related, and so far no one is in custody.

Crowds were still gathered there after the parade. Police say one male teen went to the hospital with a gunshot wound to the foot.

Two other men were shot and wounded in Bronzeville and West Englewood Saturday afternoon.
