5 Men Shot in 10-Hour Span in Logan Square Saturday Night, Police Say

LOGAN SQUARE — Five people were hurt in shootings in Logan Square between Saturday afternoon and early Sunday morning, police said.

• Most recently, a 33-year-old man was shot in both ankles on the 3900 block of West Fullerton Avenue, according to Chicago Police spokesman Officer Jose Estrada.

The man was walking down the street at about 1:38 a.m. Sunday when he heard gunshots and felt pain, Estrada said The man was taken to St. Mary's hospital, where he is now in good condition.

• Minutes earlier at 1:25 a.m., a 29-year-old man was standing on the 3000 block of West Armitage Avenue when someone fired shots in his direction from a gray car, Estrada said.

The man was shot in his left leg and taken to Illinois Masonic Hospital, Estrada said, where he's listed in good condition.

Police said they suspect the shooting to be gang-related.

• Around 5:20 p.m. Saturday evening, two men were standing on the 3500 block of West McLean Avenue when a car approached and a passenger fired shots, Estrada said.

One of the men, a 34-year-old, was taken to Illinois Masonic Hospital after being shot in his chest and hip, Estrada said. He is now in critical condition.

Estrada said the other man, 27, is in good condition at St. Mary's Hospital after being shot in his leg.

No one is in custody for the shooting, Estrada said, and police say both victims are documented gang members.

• At 3:30 p.m. Saturday afternoon a 23-year-old man was standing on the sidewalk on the 3100 block of West Belden Avenue when a man walked up and shot him in his right knee before fleeing in a car, Estrada said.

The man refused medical attention, Estrada said.

According to police, he is a documented gang member.
