3 Dead, 10 Wounded in Shootings Since Wednesday Afternoon, Police Say

CHICAGO — Three people were killed and at least 10 others wounded in gun violence on the South and West sides since Wednesday afternoon, police said.

In Roseland, two men were shot and killed and another was critically wounded in a drive-by shooting.

In Logan Square, one man was killed and another was wounded in a parking lot of a convenience store late Wednesday.

In Little Village, an 18-year-old man drove himself to Mount Sinai after he was shot while walking on the street.

Most recently, in Chicago Lawn, a 36-year-old man was wounded during a robbery early Thursday morning.

At 5:58 a.m., the man was standing on the sidewalk in the 5900 block of South Campbell Avenue when three men approached and started to rob him, said Officer Stacey Cooper, a Chicago Police spokeswoman.

After complying with the robbers, the man began to run, and one of the robbers started shooting. The 36-year-old suffered a graze wound in the hip and was taken to Holy Cross Hospital in good condition, Cooper said.

• Earlier in South Shore, a 30-year-old man was shot in the leg and wrist in the 1600 block of East 71st Street at 2:45 a.m., Cooper said.

• In Chicago Lawn at 11:35 p.m. Wednesday, a 31-year-old woman walked into Holy Cross Hospital with a gunshot wound in the foot, Cooper said.

The woman was shot by a man during a domestic dispute, Cooper said.

No arrest had been made early Thursday morning.

• Around 6:13 p.m. in Austin, a 25-year-old man was driving through an alley in the 800 block of North Lavergne Avenue when someone standing in a group of men opened fire, striking the man in the left arm, Cooper said. The man was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital in good condition, Cooper said.

• In Chicago Lawn at 4:35 p.m., a 16-year-old boy was sitting on a porch in the 7100 block of South California Avenue when a gunman wearing all black walked out of an alley and fired shots before running away, Cooper said

The teenager was shot in the right leg and taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center in good condition, Cooper said.

• In Chatham, two men were standing near an alley in the 7900 block of South Langley Avenue when a dark colored van drove up and someone inside fired shots, Cooper said.

A 22-year-old man was shot in the buttocks and taken to Stroger Hospital where his condition stabilized, Cooper said.

The other man, whose age was unknown, suffered a graze wound but refused medical attention, Cooper said.
