CHICAGO — One man was killed and another wounded late Wednesday outside of a neighborhood grocery store in Logan Square, just blocks from where a 15-year-old boy was shot last week.

At 11:10 p.m., two men, ages 19 and 33, got into a fight with two other men in the parking lot of Foodsmart at 2901 W. Armitage Ave. when one of the men pulled a gun and fired shots, said Officer Stacey Cooper, a Chicago Police spokeswoman.

The 19-year-old man was shot in the chest and taken to Illinois Masonic Medical Center where he was pronounced dead. The 33-year-old was shot in the shoulder and neck and also taken to Illinois Masonic, where his condition stabilized, Cooper said.

Jonathan Garcia, of the 3300 block of West Palmer Street, died at 11:35 p.m., the Cook County Medical Examiner's Office said.

According to police, the two men who were shot were documented gang members.

Ald. Joe Moreno (1st) said on Facebook the victim was a member of the Latin Lover street gang, and that police were investigating video footage of the incident.

The shooting comes one week after a 15-year-old boy was wounded in a Walgreen's parking lot, just blocks west on Armitage.

"It's shocking," said Linda Joyce, who is a nanny in the area. "This makes me nervous. It's a nice store, after the shooting last week at the Walgreen's you worry if it's going to be a pattern. Maybe police need to step up protection."

Josh Davila, 27, of Logan Square, said the shooting was shameful. "It's horrible," Davila said. "You get some nice weather and people don't know how to act. They don't have any respect for life and other people, it's a shame."

William Ayala, who lives in Bucktown and shops at the store, said he was sickened by the news. "If things are going to change we need to stand up together as a community, if you see something don't ignore it, call the police.

Moreno said he was working with Shakespeare District police to organize a community meeting in response to the two recent shootings.
