Two Dead, 11 Others Wounded in Gunfire Since Wednesday Afternoon: Police

CHICAGO — Two men were killed and at least 11 others were wounded, including two teenagers, in gun violence across the city since Wednesday afternoon, police said.

A 20-year-old was shot and killed in Austin early Thursday.

A 43-year-old man was shot and killed in Chatham Thursday.

In Edgewater, a man was hospitalized after he was shot multiple times.

The most recent non-fatal shooting occurred before midnight in Garfield Park.

• A 23-year-old man was sitting in a parked car in the 700 block of South Kostner Avenue, when someone walked up and shot him in his leg, said Officer Michael Sullivan, a Chicago Police spokesman.

He was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital by a relative, where his condition stabilized, Sullivan said.

• In Grand Boulevard around 11:30 p.m., a 21-year-old man was in the 4600 block of South Indiana Avenue when he was shot multiple times, Sullivan said.

He was taken to University of Chicago Medical Center and later transferred to Mount Sinai Hospital, where his condition stabilized, Sullivan said.

• Around 10 p.m. in Auburn Gresham, a 21-year-old woman was standing outside in the 8600 block of South Carpenter Street, when she heard shots and felt pain, Sullivan said.

The woman suffered a grazed wound to the side of her body and was treated at the scene.

• Shortly before 9 p.m. in Humboldt Park, a 22-year-old man was driving in the 4400 block of West Walton Street when he was shot in his arm. He was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital and listed in good condition, Sullivan said.

• In Auburn Gresham around 8 p.m., a 23-year-old was shot in his arm, hand and groin in the 8000 block of South Carpenter Street. He was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center and listed in serious condition, Sullivan said.

• Ten minutes earlier in Austin, a 16-year-old boy was sitting in a vehicle in the 4700 block of West Ohio Avenue, when someone walked up and shot him in the leg. He was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital in good condition, Sullivan said.

• In East Garfield Park around 6:30 p.m., a 21-year-old man was shot in his leg and chest in the 300 block of South Homan Avenue. He was taken to Stroger Hospital and listed in serious condition, Sullivan said.

• In Washington Park at 5 p.m., a 20-year-old man was shot in his leg in the 5700 block of South Michigan Avenue. He was taken to St. Bernard Hospital in good condition, said Officer Janel Sedevic, a Chicago Police spokeswoman.

• A few minutes earlier in Uptown, a 25-year-old man was shot in his arm in the 4500 block of North Clarendon Avenue. He was taken to Illinois Masonic Medical in good condition, Sedevic said.

According to police, the man, a documented gang member, was uncooperative with investigators.

• In Morgan Park around 4:20 p.m., a 17-year-girl was standing outside in the 1300 block of West 111th Street when she heard shots and discovered she had been struck, Sedevic said.

The girl was shot in her chest was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center in serious condition, Sedevic said.
