Chatham Shooting Leaves 43-Year-Old Man Dead, Police Say

CHICAGO — A man was shot and killed in Chatham early Thursday, police said.

Around 12:30 a.m., a 43-year-old man was found unresponsive on the sidewalk with gunshot wounds in the chest in the 8100 block of South Normal Avenue, said Officer Michael Sullivan, a Chicago Police spokesman.

The man, who was a documented gang member, was pronounced dead at the scene, police said.

The Cook County Medical Examiner's Office identified the victim as Juan Warrior, 43, of the 6500 South Wolcott Avenue. Warrior was pronounced dead at 12:39, the Medical Examiner's office said.

No one is in custody, and police are investigating.
