LAKEVIEW — Police issued a community alert following two robberies in the last week in Lakeview.

The most recent incident occurred at 1:55 a.m. Friday in the 3600 block of North Fremont Avenue, police said. The first incident occurred at 5:35 p.m. Nov. 16 in the 900 block of West Newport Street.

In each incident, a man approached the victims from behind and used force to take a purse and a backpack.

The offender is described as a black male, 25-32 years old, 6-feet to 6-feet-2 inches tall, with short hair. He was wearing a black or dark blue hooded sweatshirt, black flat-brimmed White Sox cap, and jeans, police said.

In one incident, the suspect was seen running to a dark blue four-door sedan, possibly a Chevy Malibu, in an alley south of Waveland Avenue.
