CHICAGO — Shootings that spanned from North Park to Auburn Gresham left two people dead and seven people wounded since Wednesday afternoon.

Two people, a 15-year-old boy and 19-year-old man, were wounded in North Park around 1:40 p.m. Wednesday. The shooting occurred near the intersection of Bryn Mawr Avenue and Pulaski Road when someone approached the two while they were sitting in their car, said Officer Janel Sedevic, a Chicago police spokeswoman.

Police responded to the shooting and tried to pull over the car that the shooter was driving off in, Sedevic said. The car crashed, and the shooter tried to run off, but he was soon caught, Sedevic said.

The shooter was taken to Illinois Masonic Medical Center, where he was treated for minor injuries. The 15-year-old and 19-year-old were taken to Swedish Covenant Hospital, where the boy was listed in good condition and the man was listed in stable condition, Sedevic said.

The most recent shooting occurred in the 6700 block of South State Street in Greater Grand Crossing around 11:45 p.m. A 17-year-old boy heard shots as he stood on the block and felt pain in his leg. He was taken to Comer Children's Hospital, where he was listed in stable condition, Sedevic said.

About an hour earlier., a 19-year-old was fatally shot and a 17-year-old was wounded in Belmont Cragin.

Around 9:20 p.m., two men were wounded in a shooting in West Englewood. Forty minutes earlier, an 8-year-old was shot in his face during a domestic dispute in Auburn Gresham.
