At 3:48 p.m., the man was in the 6100 block of South Carpenter Street when witnesses said somone opened fire from a slow-moving blue vehicle, said Officer Janel Sedevic, a Chicago police spokeswoman.

The man was hit three times in his shoulder and lower chest. He was taken in critical condition to Advocate Christ Medical Center, where he was later pronounced dead, Sedevic said.
