CHICAGO — A 32-year-old man is in critical condition after being shot in West Town overnight.

The shooting occurred in the 1600 block of West Grand Avenue around 3:06 a.m. Saturday, according to Officer Ana Pacheco, a police spokeswoman.

The man intervened in a fight between two people when another person, who was not involved in the fight, approached the group on foot and fired shots, striking the 32-year-old man in his neck, Pacheco said.

Police said the victim, who is a documented gang member, was taken to Stroger Hospital in critical condition.

No one is in custody, and detectives are investigating.
