Uptown's chamber of commerce debuted the new branding effort Wednesday.

Sidewalk Chalk fuses hip-hop, funk, jazz and soul.

The final vote on the designation is scheduled for Nov. 9.

The fundraiser will be held at the Aragon Ballroom, 1106 W. Lawrence Ave., on Nov. 10.

Martin Sorge previously worked with the Lincoln Park Chamber of Commerce.

Samuel Del Real will perform for free at Buttercup Park, 4901 N. Sheridan Road, Saturday.

The market, now in its third year, kicks off Thursday and will be held weekly through Aug. 27. 

Sara Dinges will replace Alyssa Berman-Cutler, the economic development organization announced Monday.

The event is part of Redmoon Theater's tour of Chicago communities leading up to the October festival.

Distressed viaducts leading into Uptown from the east will get makeovers.
