Demetrius P. Hill Jr. died at Northwestern Memorial Hospital, officials said.
The man was found on the ground in the 2200 block of West 21st Street, police said.
Ulises Almaraz, 29, is accused of slitting the throat of Rodolfo "Rudy" Avina.

The man was walking outside when a white van pulled up and someone inside fired shots, police said.
The 37-year-old was pronounced dead at Northwestern Memorial Hospital, police said.
