Man Shot in Head, Critically Wounded in Pilsen, Police Say

CHICAGO — A 19-year-old man was critically wounded in a shooting in Pilsen Saturday afternoon, police said.

Around 3:55 p.m., witnesses heard shots and turned the corner to discover a man lying on the ground in the 2200 block of West 21st Street, said Officer Stacey Cooper, a Chicago Police Department spokeswoman.

The man had been shot in his head and was taken to John H. Stroger Hospital in critical condition, Cooper said.

According to police, the man was a gang member.
