LINCOLN SQUARE — Police and elected officials are hosting a rare communitywide CAPS meeting in Lincoln Square to address crime trends in the neighborhood.

Cmdr. Sean Loughran of the Lincoln Police District and Ald. Pat O'Connor (40th) will lead the discussion, scheduled for 7 p.m. Thursday at Amundsen High School, 5110 N. Damen Ave.

Though the Lincoln Police District is frequently touted as one of the safest in the city, residents have been shaken in recent months by a string of armed robberies and assaults on women.

Residents have complained that information shared at individual beat meetings doesn't provide a complete picture of crime in Lincoln Square, which encompasses not only numerous beats but spans two police districts (Lincoln and Town Hall) and the 40th and 47th wards.
