UPTOWN — Ridman's Coffee is now open in Uptown.

The coffee shop at Lawrence Avenue and Clark Street opened Wednesday and has had a "pretty good" reception from the neighborhood, co-owner Sarah Riddle said.

"Everyone is super nice and seems excited to have us and we're excited to be here," she said.

The coffee shop is a "small, locally-owned and operated specialty coffee shop ... proudly serving Dark Matter Coffee," according to the shop's website.

The shop currently has Dark Matter's Chocolate City Iced Coffee on draft, she said.

The shop, which has seating for about 25, offers treats from gluten free bakery Defloured and Evanston's Hewn Bakery.

It is open from 6:30 a.m.-6 p.m. Mondays-Fridays and 7 a.m.-4 p.m. Saturdays and Sundays.

The shop opened in what was slated to become Uptown's first Bow Truss coffee shop. In March 2016, the local coffee chain announced plans to open a shop at 4756 N. Clark St., but the site had remained in limbo as its founder Phil Tadros has faced legal and financial troubles.
