UPTOWN — Ridman's Coffee is just about ready to open its doors in Uptown.

The coffee shop slated for the corner of Lawrence Avenue and Clark Street plans to hold a grand opening Oct. 4, co-owner Sarah Riddle said.

The shop is "literally just waiting to have our business license in hand" then "we'll tear down the paper and open the doors," she said.

The shop will open in what was slated to become Uptown's first Bow Truss coffee shop. In March 2016, the local coffee chain announced plans to open a shop at 4756 N. Clark St., but the site had remained in limbo as its founder Phil Tadros has faced legal and financial troubles.

The coffee shop will be "small, locally-owned and operated specialty coffee shop ... proudly serving Dark Matter Coffee and a variety of snacks," according to the shop's website.

"We're not going to try to reinvent the wheel," owner Riddle has said in the past, adding the shop will focus on "customer service."

Ridman's Coffee will have pastries from local bakers and have Dark Matter iced coffee on tap. It will also have seating for about 20 people.

Customers can expect some grand opening specials to be announced on the shop's social media over the next week, she said.
