ROSCOE VILLAGE — When it comes to the Chicago River, think of twilight as nature's version of a soft focus lens.

View the North Branch at its greatest advantage during the Clark Park Advisory Council's annual Twilight Canoe and Kayak event, scheduled for 5:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. on Sept. 10, 3400 N. Rockwell St.

The evening includes choice of paddling option, catered dinner with food from Noon-O-Kebab, entertainment by the Horner Park Jazz Band and a silent auction.

Cost is $60 per person, $25 for children accompanied by an adult. Proceeds benefit improvements at the park, which is home to the WMS Boathouse, The Garden dirt jumps and, coming soon, the Riverview Bridge addition to the city's riverfront bike path.
