ANDERSONVILLE — Barely a year after opening on Clark Street, Goddess and Grocer will close its Andersonville location.

Employees at the location and its headquarters confirmed the cafe at 5318 N. Clark St. will close Aug. 27, but declined to comment further.

"It was a tough decision to make," said owner Debbie Sharpe, a former caterer to rock ‘n' roll royalty like the Rolling Stones and Paul and Linda McCartney, who launched the first Goddess and Grocer location in Wicker Park in 2004.

Goddess and Grocer opened its Andersonville location, its seventh, in June 2016. After its closure, the company will be focusing on its flagship location, downtown stores and catering services, it said in a press release.

"We love the Andersonville neighborhood, but it's time to move on. We have been offered other projects that I would like to pursue," Sharpe said.
