ANDERSONVILLE — Goddess and Grocer may not be officially open in Andersonville, but the cafe was packed for a good cause Monday.

For its soft opening, the cafe at 5318 N. Clark St. is offering all menu items for free with a suggested donation to benefit the Howard Brown Health Center, which exists "to eliminate the disparities in health care experienced by" the LGBT community "through research, education and the provision of services that promote health and wellness."

Monday, the cafe was open until 3 p.m., took a two-hour break and then will reopen from 5 p.m.-8 p.m., employees said.

The restaurant will have a patio in back with seating for 30, but it will not be dog friendly.

The cafe will officially open Tuesday at noon, employees said.

All Goddess and Grocer stores will also be donating $1 for each slice and $10 from each whole rainbow cake between June 13 - June 26 to support victims of the Pulse shooting in Orlando, Florida.

The cafe will be open from 8 a.m.-8 p.m. daily.
