BRONZEVILLE — Wentworth District Commander Crystal King-Smith is meeting with neighbors Tuesday to lay out her plans to curb violence this summer.

Aldermen Pat Dowell (3rd) and Sophia King (4th) are hosting a meeting at 6 p.m. Tuesday at Gallery Guichard, 436 E. 47th St., with the commander of the district, which spans much of the south lakefront east of the Dan Ryan Expy. from 31st to 60th streets.

Safety is a rising concern in the district with recent shootings in the normally quiet Hyde Park and on Lake Shore Drive. In King’s recent election, a race where safety was often cited as the No. 1 concern.

The aldermen will also be asking for suggestions of what can be done beyond their recent efforts to go after trouble businesses and positive loitering campaigns.
