LOGAN SQUARE — For the second year in a row, Parson's Chicken & Fish is taking over Humboldt Boulevard for a blowout block party to celebrate the beginning of summer.

The party, set for 2-8 p.m. Saturday, promises plenty of boozy slushies and Modelo to go around, plus Parson's signature fried grub from Chef Hunter Moore, games and tunes from DJ Dan Maloney and DJs Dave and Mama Mata. A "super special surprise" live band is also scheduled to perform at some point.

Admission is free, but the wildly popular bar/restaurant, 2952 W. Armitage Ave., will be collecting school supplies for Association House High School in Humboldt Park as a suggested donation. A portion of the proceeds will also benefit the Illinois Coalition for Immigrant and Refugee Rights.

Last year, Parson's was forced to postpone the inaugural event due to stormy weather. It could happen again, as the forecast predicts thunderstorms for Saturday.

Parson's announced late last year that it would be expanding in 2017, which means patrons can expect a new bar, kitchen and more outdoor seating in the coming months.

RSVP for the party on Facebook.
