LOGAN SQUARE — Did you lose your pet ferret?
Avondale resident Seth Larson, 42, was driving home with his wife and 9-month-old daughter around 6:30 p.m. Wednesday when he came across a lost ferret running back and forth under cars and ducking into traffic at Diversey and Central Park avenues.
Having once dated a woman who owned a pet ferret, Larson was familiar with the animal and knew right away that it likely belonged to someone. So he got out a shopping bag, scooped it up and took it home.
Since then, Larson has been putting up fliers around the neighborhood and posting online, including on Reddit, to try and find the owner — but so far, no luck.
One woman contacted him, saying she had lost a ferret around New Year's Eve, but, it turns out, the ferret Larson found wasn't hers.
Larson said even though the ferret is getting along swimmingly with his three cats and his infant, he won't be keeping the critter, which he described as "real gentle and friendly."
"We definitely have a full house," said Larson, who works in finance Downtown.
If no one claims the ferret by Monday, Larson said he'll likely give the critter either to a friend to foster or to the woman who lost her ferret.
"It's affirming that so many people come together to try to help out when something like this happens," he said.
