Weekend Shootings Kill 4 People, Wound 23, Police Say

CHICAGO — Shootings killed four people and wounded 23 over the weekend, police said.

Two people were shot dead and three wounded on Sunday.

• At 11 p.m. Sunday, a 31-year-old man was shot to death in Brighton Park.

• At 5:35 p.m., a 23-year-old man was shot and killed in Belmont Cragin.

In non-fatal shootings:

• At 6:50 p.m., a 16-year-old boy was shot in Hermosa, police said. The boy was walking in the 1900 block of North Pulaski Road when he heard shots and felt pain.

The boy was shot in his right foot and he took himself to Presence Saints Mary and Elizabeth Hospital, where he was in good condition, police said.

• At 6:45 p.m., a 51-year-old woman was shot in Garfield Park, police said. The woman was in the 4700 block of West Erie Street when someone robbed her and fired shots at her.

The woman was hit in her legs and was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital in good condition, police said.

• Also at 5:35 p.m., a 22-year-old man was shot in Englewood, police said. The man was in the 6300 block of South Racine Avenue when he was shot in his left arm and the lower part of his body was grazed by a bullet.

The man took himself to University of Illinois at Chicago Medical Center, where he was in good condition, police said.

No one was in custody in these shootings.

Five people were wounded in shootings between Saturday and Sunday, and shootings killed two people and wounded 15 between Friday and Saturday.
