CHICAGO — Small apartment buildings and homes with busted heating systems can apply for a city grant to cover the cost of repairs or a replacement system, city officials said.
An Arctic cold front is expected to envelop the city Thursday, bringing temperatures to the mid-20s, forecasters said. It could feel even chillier thanks to winds that hit 15-25 mph, with some gusts reaching 35 mph, and there might be snow flurries.
Applicants can file for the grant in person at City Hall, 121 N. LaSalle St., between 9 a.m.-3 p.m. weekdays until April 1, officials said.
The grants are open to the owner-occupants of single-family homes and one- to four-unit apartment buildings owned by individuals and families earning no more than 80 percent of the area median income in Chicago, officials said.
An application packet is available online. For more information, call 312-744-3653.
