Shootings Kill 1 Person, Wound 13 Since Friday, Police Say

CHICAGO — One person has been killed and 13 wounded in shootings since Friday, police said.

• At 2:50 p.m. Friday, a 33-year-old man was in Cornell Park when he was gunned down in Hyde Park.

In non-fatal shootings:

• Most recently, at 2:50 a.m. Saturday, three people were shot while outside in the Near North Side.

• At 2 a.m., a 40-year-old man was shot in Archer Heights, police said. The man was in a car in the 5300 block of South Archer Avenue when a blue car with several people inside pulled alongside him and one of the people in the car fired shots.

The man was hit in his left leg and he took himself to Mount Sinai Hospital, where his condition was not available but he was listed as "stable," police said.

• At 1:45 a.m., a 25-year-old man was shot in Brighton Park.

• At 1:10 a.m., a 19-year-old woman and 25-year-old man were shot in Garfield Park, police said. The two were sitting in a parked car in the 3200 block of West Warren Boulevard when a silver car pulled up and someone inside the car fired shots.

The man was hit in his head and was in critical condition and the woman was hit in her left leg and was in good condition, police said. They were taken to Mount Sinai Hospital.

• At 10:20 p.m. Friday, a 19-year-old man was wounded in a shooting in Roseland, police said.

The man walked into University of Chicago Medical Center after his leg was grazed by a bullet, police said. His condition was not available but he was listed as "stable," police said.

The man was uncooperative and told investigators the shooting happened in different places, including the 10900 block of South Wentworth Avenue, a police source said. There were no calls of shots fired near the 10900 block of South Wentworth and investigators did not find any witnesses or evidence of a shooting, a police source said.

• At 8:32 p.m., a 33-year-old man was shot in North Lawndale, police said. Officers responding to a call of a person shot found the man on the sidewalk in the 1300 block of South Harding Avenue.

The man had been shot in his abdomen and was taken to a hospital in serious condition, police said.

The man was a documented gang member, a police source said.

• At 8:30 p.m., a man was shot during a fight in Auburn Gresham.

• Also at 8:30 p.m., a 22-year-old man was shot in Austin, police said. The man was walking in the 700 block of North Leamington Avenue when two men walked up to him and tried to rob him.

The man refused to give over his property and he was shot in his left foot, police said. He took himself to West Suburban Hospital in good condition.

The man was a documented gang member, a police source said.

• At 6:13 p.m., a 16-year-old boy was shot in his face and critically wounded in North Lawndale.

• At 10:55 a.m., a 25-year-old man was shot in his knee in Chatham.

No one was in custody in these shootings.
