5 Dead, 33 Wounded In Shootings Since Friday, Police Say

CHICAGO — Shootings throughout the weekend killed five people and wounded 33 others, according to police.

Two people were killed and 10 others wounded on Sunday alone, police said.

Most recently, a 26-year-old man was killed in a Brighton Park attack, police said. A South Shore shooting killed a 25-year-old man Sunday night, police said.

On Saturday, one person was killed and 17 others were wounded, according to police. Shootings on Friday killed two and wounded six others.

In non-fatal shootings:

• At 11:30 p.m., a 46-year-old man was shot in Englewood, police said.

He was on the sidewalk in the 7300 block of South Stewart Avenue when two groups began shooting at each other, police said. The man was caught in the crossfire and was struck in his left leg, police said. He was taken to Saint Bernard Hospital in good condition.

• At 10:20 p.m., a 21-year-old man was shot in Gage Park, police said.

The man was on the sidewalk in the 5200 block of South Troy Avenue when someone in a gray Jeep traveling southbound on Troy began firing, police said. He was struck in his back and was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital in critical condition, police said. The man is a documented gang member, police said.

• At 9:50 p.m., a 38-year-old man was shot in Kenwood.

• At 9:30 p.m., a 58-year-old business owner was shot during a robbery attempt in North Lawndale.

• At 7:40 p.m., a 19-year-old man was shot in Englewood, police said.

The man was in the 7000 block of South Emerald Avenue when he was shot in his left leg, police said. His condition was unknown, as the man is a documented gang member and is being uncooperative with investigators, a police source said.

• At 5:40 p.m., two teens were shot in Greater Grand Crossing, police said.

They were in the 6300 block of South King Drive when shots rang out, police said. A 19-year-old man was shot in his left forearm and was taken to Northwestern Memorial Hospital in good condition, police said. A 17-year-old was shot in his neck and was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center in critical condition, police said.

• At 4:10 p.m., an 19-year-old man was shot in McKinley Park, police said.

He was walking in the street in the 3300 block of South Leavitt Avenue when an SUV drove by and someone inside began firing, police said. He was struck in his back and was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital, where his condition was not released but police considered him to be stable.

• At 3:35 p.m., a 34-year-old man was shot in East Garfield Park, police said.

He was in a car in the 3300 block of West Warren Boulevard when a person on foot fired at him, striking hin in the right hand, police said. He was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital in good condition, police said.

•At 3 p.m., a 24-year-old man was shot in Austin, police said.

The man was in the 5000 block of West Chicago Avenue when he was shot in the ankle and was taken to West Suburban Hospital in good condition, police said.

No arrests have been made.
