Shootings Kill 2, Wound 20 Since Monday, Police Say

CHICAGO — Shootings left two people dead and 20 wounded since Monday afternoon, police said.

• At 2:37 a.m. Tuesday, a 51-year-old man was shot dead in East Garfield Park, police said.

• At 12:37 a.m., a 19-year-old man was shot dead and a 22-year-old man was wounded in Roseland, police said.

In non-fatal shootings:

• At 5:10 a.m. Tuesday, a 41-year-old man was shot in New City, police said. The man was in his car in the 4500 block of South Wood Street when he was shot behind his right ear.

The man drove himself to St. Anthony Hospital and was transferred to Mount Sinai Hospital, where he was in serious condition.

• At 1:11 a.m., a 20-year-old man was shot in Englewood, police said.

• At 11:21 p.m. Monday, a 15-year-old boy was shot in Uptown, police said.

• At 9:35 p.m., an 18-year-old man was shot in Back of the Yards, police said.

The man was walking on the sidewalk in the 5000 block of South Winchester Avenue when a man walked up to him and fired shots, police said.

He was hit in his back and was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center in serious condition, police said.

• At 9:30 p.m., a 15-year-old boy was shot in North Austin, police said.

The boy was standing on a front portch in the 5200 block of West Avenue when a man walked up to him and fired shots, police said.

He was hit in his right leg and was taken to West Suburban Hospital in stable condition, police said.

• At 9:23 p.m., am 18-year-old man and a 15-year-old boy were shot in Lawndale, police said.

They were standing on the sidewalk in the 1200 block of South Lawndale Avenue when a man walked up to them and fired shots, police said.

The 18-year-old man was hit in his back and was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital in stable condition, police said. The 15-year-old boy was hit in his back and abdomen and was also taken to Mount Sinai Hospital in stable condition.

• At 8:54 p.m., a 26-year-old man was shot in Washington Heights, police said.

The man was getting out of a car in the 500 block of West 97th Street when he heard shots and felt pain, police said.

He was hit in his chest and was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center in fair condition, police said.

• At 8:10 p.m., a 32-year-old man was shot in Roseland, police said.

The man was walking down the street in the 10700 block of South Wallace Avenue when someone in a white car drove by and fired shots, police said.

He was hit in his left calf and left thigh and was transported to Advocate Christ Medical Center in fair condition, police said.

He is a documented gang member, a police source said.

• At 8:10 p.m., an 18-year-old man was shot in Belmont Cragin, police said.

The man was walking on the sidewalk in the 4600 block West Barry Avenue when someone in a white car fired shots, police said.

He was hit in his right shoulder and was taken to Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center in stable condition, police said.

He is a documented gang member, a police source said.

• At 8:10 p.m., a 15-year-old boy was grazed by a bullet in South Shore, police said.

The boy was in the 1800 block of East 72nd Street when he was shot, police said.

He took himself to Jackson Park Hospital in good condition, police said.

• At 8 p.m., a 24-year-old man was shot in East Garfield Park, police said.

The man was walking down the street in the 3800 block of West Gladys Avenue when someone drove by in a light-colored car and fired shots, police said.

He was hit in his right foot and was taken to Stroger Hospital in good condition, police said.

He is a documented gang member, a police source said.

• At 5:30 p.m., a 16-year-old boy was shot in Austin, police said.

• At 6:59 p.m., another 16-year-old boy was shot in Austin, police said.

The boy was hit in his right ankle in the 4900 block of West Race Avenue and was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital in good condition, police said.

• At 6:56 p.m., a 24-year-old man was shot in Uptown, police said.

• At 6:43 p.m., a 20-year-old man was shot in Cabrini Green, police said.

The man was in the 800 block of North Cambridge Avenue when he was hit in his leg, police said.

He was taken to Northwestern Memorial Hospital in serious condition, police said.

• At 1:25 p.m., a 38-year-old man was shot in Englewood, according to the Chicago Tribune.

• At 12:15 p.m., a 17-year-old boy and a 51-year-old man were shot in Austin, according to the Tribune.

The man and the boy were shot in the 5600 block of West Corcoran Place, police said.

The man was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital in good condition and the boy took himself to West Suburban Medical Center, where he is also in good condition, according to the Tribune.

No one was in custody.
