Halloween Shootings Leave Man Dead, 15-Year-Old Wounded

CHICAGO — A 24-year-old man was killed and a 15-year-old boy was wounded in separate shootings in Uptown on Monday, police said.

At 6:56 p.m., the 24-year-old man was walking in the 1100 block of West Wilson Avenue when a man in a black SUV drove by and fired shots, said officer Ana Pacheco, a Chicago Police spokesperson.

He was hit in his side and was taken to Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center in critical condition, where he was pronounced dead, officials said.

He was identified as Jacoby Baker, according to the Cook County Medical Examiner.

At 11:21 p.m., the 15-year-old boy was standing with several people on the sidewalk in the 4500 block of North Malden Street when a man walked up to him and fired shots, police said.

The boy was hit in his right leg and was transported to Thorek Hospital and was slated to be transferred to Saint Francis Hospital.

No one is in custody.
