CHICAGO — A 51-year-old man was shot dead in East Garfield Park Tuesday, police said.

The man was standing outside in the 600 block of North Ridgeway Avenue when a man drove by in a vehicle and fired shots, police said.

The man was hit in his back and was taken to Presence Saints Mary and Elizabeth Medical Center, where he was later pronounced dead.

He has been identified as Donald Dockery, of the 4700 block of West Maypole Avenue, according to the Cook County Medical Examiner's office.

No one was in custody.
