LOGAN SQUARE — Crews are at work transforming the former late-night dance spot Bonny's into a new bar its owners hope will maintain the same feel.

A painted sign recently went up at The Native, 2417 N. Milwaukee Ave., which means an opening date may not be far off.

The owners — husband-and-wife Jared and Carly Savocchi — couldn't be immediately reached for comment, but previously said they were aiming to open sometime in November.

Once the bar opens, patrons can expect '70s- and '80s-themed decor with booths, leather and dark-colored interior. (If the plaid wallpaper is any indication, the owners seem to be sticking to this design scheme.)

Plus, there will be vintage shuffleboard bowling, a patio with room for 50 people and patrons will be able to listen to full albums on vinyl.

Like Bonny's, The Native will not be a cocktail bar. And no food will be served aside from free popcorn and heat-and-serve pizzas to order.

Bonny's closed in late 2012 amid a lawsuit between the owners and the landlords.

The bar was known for its rowdy dance parties, its 4 a.m. liquor license, cheap drinks, red light, photob booth, good music and bad decisions. When Slippery Slope opened down the street in 2014, it also pointed to Bonny's as its inspiration.

The Native will be open every day until 2 a.m., and until 3 a.m. on Saturdays.
