LOGAN SQUARE — The building that has sat vacant since the beloved bar Bonny's closed in 2012 will now house The Native, a retro spot coming to Logan Square this fall.

The Native will have an "old school Chicago vibe," said a spokeswoman for owners Jared and Carly Savocchi, the husband-wife duo opening their first bar. It is slated to open this November.

It will replace Bonny's at 2417 N. Milwaukee Ave. Bonny's, which was open for less than two years at that location, closed in late 2012 amid a lawsuit between the owners and landlords.

In a previous interview with DNAinfo, Savocchi said he wants his bar to continue the feel of the former dive.

"We are trying to keep the integrity of the old place," Savocchi said. "I don't want to drive people away thinking it's some gazilionare coming in doing another concept bar. I'm trying to sort of keep it what it was."

The storefront has been vacant since Bonny's closed.

The vibe will be a "local feel" with a throwback to the '70s or '80s with booths, leather and dark colored interior. Patrons will be able to listen to full albums on vinyl and play vintage shuffleboard bowling.

"I want a place where people can come in and I want to know their name," Savocchi said.

It will not be a cocktail bar. No food will be served aside from free popcorn and heat-and-serve pizzas to order, Savocchi said.

A back patio with seating for 50 will open in warmer months.

"We aren't going to over conceptualize and make it something that's going to be hot for a second and then not," Savocchi said. "It's going to be one of those things that gains momentum over time."

The Native will be open every day until 2 a.m., and until 3 a.m. on Saturdays.
